Changes to Humalog Kwikpen Prescriptions

There is now another brand of insulin lispro available in the UK called Admelog®. Admelog® is a ‘biosimilar’ of Humalog® which means it has been tested to ensure that it is equally effective and safe.

Admelog® is now the preferred brand to Humalog® for insulin lispro prescribing in Devon, as it is better value for the NHS, and as such we have been asked to switch our patients over to Admelog.

The consultants / diabetes specialist nurses at Derriford are aware that we have been asked to make this switch and are happy for us to do so – the two insulins are identical so they have advised that the switch can be made safely with no adjustment to dose.
