What is a group clinic?
Group Clinics (also known as Group Consultations) are a new way of receiving care at your GP surgery. They allow patients with similar health concerns to come together in a safe, supportive environment — with clinical guidance — to receive medical advice, learn from others, and ask questions.
What to expect
- Session Length: Around 45 to 90 minutes
- Group Size: Typically 6–12 patients with the same or similar condition
- Led By: A trained clinician (e.g., GP, nurse, pharmacist) and a group facilitator
- Format: You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Discuss your own health
- Listen to others’ experiences
- Learn about managing your condition
- Ask questions in a group setting
If you are attending a face to face group clinic, you can also watch this video to see how the session will flow.
Who Can Attend?
Group clinics are offered for a variety of long-term conditions, for example:
- Diabetes
- Asthma/COPD
- Menopause
- Weight management
- Hypertension
- Cholesterol and statin advice
You’ll be invited if your clinician feels a group setting could benefit your care. We are currently only running Diabetic group clinics.
Confidentiality & Consent
We take your privacy seriously.
- Before attending, you’ll be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement.
- All participants agree to keep each other’s information private.
- You will not be required to share anything you’re uncomfortable with
- One-to-one follow-up appointments are available if needed
Are Group Clinics Online or In Person?
We offer In person sessions currently with a view to possibly exploring online in the future.
