Beacon Medical Group is a thriving GP practice in the heart of Plympton and Ivybridge. We are made up of 5 surgeries and care for around 39’000 patients. As an award winning forward thinking practice we are a great place in which you can thrive!

As part of our on-going initiatives in delivering patient services and wraparound care we have a vacancy within our nursing team for a Treatment Room Nurse to help us deliver the new Improved Access initiative for patients, which will give patients access to more services outside of the traditional GP hours model so this would involve working 26 Saturdays and Sundays across a year.

Your Role and Working Pattern    

Your clinics might include dressings and wound management, smears, children’s imms, travel imms, and cytology appointments. As a research active Group we are developing our clinical research services and clinical trials which could potentially become part of this role in the future. You will be a confident and professional nurse able to work effectively with minimal supervision as part of a wider nursing team under the Nurse Manager. You will have a proven track record in patient care and GP practice, previous knowledge of using SystmOne would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided. Unfortunately this particular role is not suitable for a newly qualified nurse.

This role does require some unsocial hours and the salary indicated includes an additional allowance.

Your working day

2pm -5pm Monday

6.30pm – 8pm Wednesday

2pm – 8pm Thursday and Friday

9am – 1pm Saturday

About the Team

Our Nurse Manager heads up a team of mixed professionals, containing CDM nurses, treatment room nurses, HCP’s and Phlebotomists. We want to give our patients the best care and really value the skills and dedication of our nursing team, providing on-going training and support with a dedicated nurse educator, to ensure our nurses have a clear career pathway in general practice.

As a training practice we support student nurses through mentorship and work in partnership with The University of Plymouth.

Medical Secretary – £8.94 per hour

We are looking to recruit a Medical Secretary for 19 hours per week, to support our GP’s and clinicians as part of our Secretarial Team, based at Glenside Medical Practice. Beacon Medical Group is a thriving practice made up of 5 surgeries and around 39’000 patients across Plympton and Ivybridge , you will be working as part of an established team of medical secretaries, one of which has been recently shortlisted for the NHS70 Awards.

We are seeking an experienced medical secretary to join the team, with a strong eye for detail and diligent approach to work flow. You will be confident in dealing with internal and external correspondence, choose and book referrals, payments for private NHS work and chargeable services and proficient in letters typed from dictation using Lexicom. As an experienced medical secretary you will be familiar with medical terminology.

Working Pattern

Monday -9-3

Wednesday – 9-5.30

Friday -12.30-6

Tuesday & Thursdays would be non working days

Patient Advisor – Ivybridge Medical Practice – 26.25 hours per week, £8.20 per hour

We are looking to recruit 2 Patient Advisor’s Grade 1 for our Ivybridge Medical Practice. You will have an excellent telephone manner with experience of high call volume handling and the ability to multi task whilst providing outstanding customer service. This is a varied role and will involve face to face patient contact over the reception desk and shifts in our telephone hub. As a surgery we are open between 7.45am and 8.00pm and you will work a rota’d shift pattern to cover these hours.
